Our Mission

Our Mission

Our mission at Jean’s Angels is to serve as a resource to the community and bring joy, wholesomeness, compassion, and essentials to the life of anyone who needs it.

A Personal Cause

Our founder, Katrina Carpenter, lost her mother to ovarian cancer, and her two brothers to suicide- one of whom had always wanted to work with the homeless. Since then, Katrina has made it her personal mission to give back to the underprivileged community. Thus, in 2015, Jean’s Angels was born.

The unfortunate reality is that anybody can be one step away from being homeless. One choice, one development, or one stroke of bad fate can result in unprecedented, unforeseen, and catastrophic consequences, and it could happen to anyone. But ultimately, one’s life situation doesn’t matter; we are all deserving of compassion, sympathy, dignity, and basic necessities.

Yet our work has shown us that for many, receiving these things isn’t so easy. Sadly, many children grow up without parents or legal guardians in the picture; there are even some circumstances where people do not even have the empathy to help their own sibling, child, or parent. In other circumstances, people do not have the means to provide for themselves, yet feel embarrassed or ashamed to ask for help, and humiliated to be seen in their current state.

Katrina Carpenter feels as though she was meant to help rectify these exact situations.

Compassion is at the core of everything that Jean’s Angels does, and no matter what an individual’s situation may be, our team ensures that they’ll walk away from Jean’s Angels with fresh clothes, a hot meal, a hot shower, and their sense of dignity.

A RESOurce to the lowcountry

At any given moment, anyone can go through a traumatic experience that permanently changes his or her life. When this happens, Jean’s Angels steps in to help.

Our organization has provided meals, toys, and clothes for tens of thousands of individuals throughout the Tri-County area since being founded in 2015. Tragedy can come in a wide variety of forms, including homelessness, terminal illness, domestic violence, gun violence, drug addiction, and more. Though no two situations are the same, we pride ourselves on being there for those who need help getting back on their feet, no matter what.
